The IPNRC has developed several curricula to educate parish nurses for this specialty practice. Each curriculum was written and reviewed by parish nurses and educators from across the country. Each course is periodically reviewed to maintain up-to-date material and relevancy to the specialty. The curricula are:
- Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Curriculum 2009 (formerly called Basic Preparation Course) introduces the registered nurse to this specialty. It is taught across the United States and worldwide by the IPNRC’s Educational Partners.
- Faith Community Nursing Coordinator Curriculum 2011 (formerly Coordinator Preparation Course) builds on the foundations course to prepare parish nurses for the role of coordinator. A coordinator functions within a hospital system, health care agency, or large congregation to supervise parish nurses within the system.
- Faith Community Nursing Faculty Curriculum (formerly Faculty Preparation Course) prepares parish nurses to serve as faculty coordinators. These faculty coordinator manage and teach the Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Curriculum in a variety of locations across the United Stated and worldwide.
- Equipping the Saints: Continuing Education for Faith Community Nurses and Congregations (formerly Supplemental Modules 2005 and 2007) are written for parish nurses, coordinators and faculty coordinators to use for continuing education or congregational educational programs. Revision of these modules will occur in 2011 and 2012. They are organized in specific content areas and can be purchased by educational partners, faith community coordinators or faith community nurses.
Each curriculum is periodically reviewed to maintain up-to-date material and relevancy.
