Even though the parish nurse movement began in the Lutheran faith, the link between health and spirituality exists in every faith around the globe. Part of IPNRC’s mission is to share information about the possibilities of health ministry with communities, regions, and other countries. For those interested, staff and instructional materials are available to help guide the development of health ministries in a variety of situations and locations.
If interested in starting a program in your community, region, state, or country, the IPNRC can assist development by helping to:
- Explore ways health ministry can be incorporated into your faith, region, culture, or country
- Discuss potential partners with which to network or collaborate in health ministry
- Discuss how to recruit and/or train parish nurse candidates
- Provide education for parish nurses through the Parish Nurse Basic Preparation Course
- Provide education for Parish Nurse Educators & Coordinators
- Develop resource materials that can assist programs in the structure and operation of health ministry
- Provide continuing education material and tools for parish nurses and health ministry programs
- Assist nurses and coordinators with networking in order to share programming and lessons learned
Staff members of the IPNRC are available to discuss the initiation and development of parish nursing with nurses, clergy, and other interested members of faith communities. For assistance call 314.918.2559 or email Deborah Patterson.
